Mint est une distribution largement conseillée. Sa raison d'être principale est de contourner certains choix d'ubuntu. Mais elle est cependant moins fiable que d'autres.
Elle a peu d'intérêt au delà d'un thème réussi, ce qui se personnalise facilement sur n'importe quel système et ne justifie d'après moi pas une distribution entière.

Dans la pratique l'auto-hébergement d'un service mail demande de solides connaissances techniques, énormément de temps et de surmonter de nombreux obstacles techniques.

Ne jamais écouter les vendeurs (que ce soit un supermarché ou un petit magasin, sauf très spécialisé, et encore…)
Je pense qu'il vaut mieux simplement ne pas demander le moindre conseil aux vendeurs. Comme leur qualification l'indique, leur travail est de vendre. idéalement de l'obsolescence programmée. pas de mettre les gens biens, de leur assurer un confort d'utilisation et une tranquillité à long terme. C'est aussi l'intérêt de communautés d'utilisateurs comme ubuntu-fr : on échange des infos et le fait qu'on n'ait pas d'intérêt et qu'on soit neutre suppose une pertinence et fiabilité probable.
On serait généralement surpris du niveau de qualification requis pour être vendeur dans un supermarché, et surtout de ce que la direction demande factuellement aux employés.
