Cette page s'adresse aux possesseurs d'un Compaq Presario série R3000 (celui testé étant un R3332).

Note importante : sous Gutsy, tout est parfaitement fonctionnel grâce aux drivers propriétaires suggérés juste après l'installation : Wifi, modem RTC, écran….

Fonction sudo activée (configuration par défaut ; sinon, voir ajout sudo utilisateur) ;
Une connexion internet configurée et activée si possible (si non, voir la section : accueil Modem RTC et ADSL).

Utilisez le driver libre Radeon.

L'installation ne pose aucun soucis pour les versions inférieures à Hardy. Cependant ne pas utiliser Envy qui ne fonctionne pas avec cette configuration.

Pour Hardy, le pilote libre est blacklisté dans compiz sous HARDY 8.04 CF https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/201330 Ajoutez "SKIP_CHECKS=yes" soit à /etc/xdg/compiz/compiz-manager, soit à ~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager pour qu'il fonctionne normalement sous HARDY voir : radeon

Vous pouvez également voir le fichier xorg.conf de anod1 à la fin de la page, même si normalement vous ne devriez pas en avoir besoin.

Pour Hardy

Il faut installez b43-fwcutter.

La carte bcm4306 n'a pas l'air de marcher avec le microcode par défaut. Il faut donc télécharger le firmware la : http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2

Extraire le fichier wl_apsta.o qui est dans le répertoire kmod de l'archive et l'enregistrer sur le bureau par exemple.

Ensuite faire les commandes

cd /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/b43
sudo b43-fwcutter /[CHEMIN VERS LE FICHIER]/wl_apsta.o
sudo rmmod b43
sudo modprobe b43

désactiver la connexion sans fil en cliquant sur l'applet de connexion, la redémarrer, et ça devrait marcher.

Pour Feisty et Gusty

Il suffit d'installer le paquet bcm43xx-fwcutter.

Depuis Dapper, un module Wifi « bcm43xx » est chargé et peut détecter les points d'accès disponibles sans pour autant accrocher le signal. Dans ce cas, l'installation décrite ci-dessus peut être nécessaire en pensant à blacklister le module « bcm43xx » dans le fichier /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist en ajoutant la ligne :

blacklist bcm43xx

Pour Dapper et Edgy

Utilisez ndiswrapper.

La configuration de la carte se fera alors via le menu Système → Administration → Réseau.

Voici le fichier /etc/xorg.conf de anod1 qui a l'accélération graphique fonctionnelle (R3000 intel avec mobility radeon 9000IGP) :
